Wages & Overtime Stember Feinstein Doyle Payne & Cordes helps employees obtain the wages - including overtime - that their employers owe them. We handle cases under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Pennsylvania's Wage Payment and Collection Law (WPCL).
Under law, hourly employees must be paid for every hour worked. Nonetheless, some employers require that employees perform some of their work "off the clock," by, for example, working at home, working during lunch, and working before or after the "official" start of the workday. Training time is always compensable; travel time may be as well. If your employer does not pay you for all of your time worked, you may be entitled to additional wages, liquidated damages, and payment of your attorney's fees. Hourly employees also are entitled to overtime pay for any time worked in excess of 40 hours during a work week. Employees who are paid a regular salary may be entitled to overtime wages if the employer mistakenly considers an employee "exempt" from the FLSA and the WPCL. If you have a dispute over payment of wages or overtime, please call us at 412.281.8400 or contact us online. We can determine if you have a valid claim, and how we would pursue recovery under the FLSA or the WPCL. If your claim for wages, overtime, vacation or holiday pay, or other fringe benefits is successful, you may be entitled to liquidated damages and payment of your attorney's fees. |
