Stember Feinstein Doyle Payne & Cordes represents unions and union members in traditional labor law matters.

John Stember has been involved in negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements for more than 25 years. He has represented unions and union members in labor arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Earlier in his career, John served as a local union president and as National Secretary of the UAW Local 2320, the nationwide union of Legal Services Workers. He currently provides representation to the Amalgamated Local 820 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Pictures Technicians, and Allied Crafts (IATSE), Venango Regional Machinists and Toolmakers Union, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). He has also represented the United Steelworkers (USW), United Electrical Workers (UE), the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) in various labor issues. Along with Bill Payne and other SFD&P attorneys he has represented retired members of the United Steelworkers, United Auto Workers, the International Chemical Workers Union Council of the UFCW, the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical & Energy Workers (PACE), the International Brotherhood of Electical Workers (IBEW) and the United Electrical Workers (UE). .

Bill Payne has been representing union members for nearly 30 years. Early in his career he worked for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and then served as staff counsel for the National Education Association (NEA). In 1980, he worked for a private law firm that represented many different unions throughout the western United States. Between 1982 and 1991, he was an attorney with the Legal Department of the United Steelworkers in Pittsburgh, where he had primary responsibility for ERISA litigation throughout the United States. Since going into private practice in 1991, Bill has represented many different unions in a wide variety of actions, and has continued to represent the Steelworkers in ERISA class actions. He has also brought other class action suits on behalf of retired members of the UAW, USW, UE, UFCW, IBEW, and PACE.
